Meal comes with optional packets of mayonnaise and mustard. We keep these in a separate pouch so that customers with specific clean eating needs can opt out if necessary from specific ingredients:
soybean oil, water, whole eggs and egg yolks, vinegar, salt, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, calcium disodium edta (used to protect quality), natural flavors.
Water, sugar, prepared mustard (water, vinegar, mustard seed, salt, turmeric, spices), golden sugar, vinegar, honey, modified corn starch, salt, dehydrated onion and garlic, sodium benzoate, artificial flavor
Let me start out by saying that when I opened up the bag of Next Mike Meal’s Deli Roast Beef and saw mustard and mayo packets in there, I wasn’t sure how it would play out taste-wise. I threw caution to the wind and mixed it all in...
Boy, what a pleasant surprise! Delicious! Blended perfectly and the most flavorful dehydrated backpacking meal I have EVER had; and I’ve had TONS of them!
Yet another hit with this meal, NMM!
I took this along with some other NMM meals on a 60-mile PCT backpack last summer. I have Type-1 diabetes and do low-carb/hi-fat eating and these meals were perfect! The deli roast beef was by far my favorite. I added a packet of coconut oil or olive oil for some extra fat and that blended in well. I even bought some of these recently (it's March) since I was missing them and it's not backpacking season yet. I had to explain to co-workers at lunch in the cafeteria what dehydrated meals were...
I bought a sample pack and tried this at home. I boiled 8 oz of water and added ~ 7 oz of water to the pack, stirred, and covered with a towel for 10 minutes. I then added the condiments to the pack and stirred.
I'm not keto. I split most of the rehdryated contents into two 8 inch tortillas. I ate the remaining meat out of the pouch after eating the wraps.
The taste is excellent, but the meat was a little chewy. I do like that this (like their other meals) is a sort of 'bring your own carbs if you want' and I can use a tortilla or 2 to round out the meal.
I will definitely try this again as I've bought another sampler pack, but I might try adding some additional water next time and drain any excess before adding the condiments. Serving size is great for 1 person.
Got a sampler, and while I liked this one, it wasn't my favorite. Glad I got to try it, and my hiking friend loved it. I'll be re-ordering the others for sure though!
