This Louisiana-inspired dinner is the perfect addition to our line up and we can't WAIT for you to try it.
Our own twist on this cajun classic has the most delicious slow-roasted pork, seasoned okra and bell peppers, and enough of a kick to make you realize that you have never had a backpacking meal this good.
As always, our meals offer flexibility and customizability: no rice to be found here for our keto and paleo fans, but our carb-loving customers can easily add some instant rice to this meal for an incredible (and inexpensive way) to truly get two servings out of every bag.

I’ve had many different trail meals and this is, by far, the best. I’d eat this at home as a normal meal on a routine basis, fantastic! I have enjoyed all NextMile meals, great flavor. But this is their Chef’s Special. I agree with Roger O., I had a few of the pork pieces not hydrate fully, but that doesn’t distract from the taste nor my future consumption!
Cajun jambalaya is my new favorite! So good and hits the spot! I have been taking it while snowshoeing and it is delicious
I've been keto for two years, and this was my first backpacking trip where I needed a low carb option. Oh my, this was delirious. I always bring extra spices just in case, but this didn't need any. 10/10 would purchase again.
Have tried this meal three times. I find the flavor and okra presentation pleasing BUT having tried various techniques I cannot get the meat in this meal to rehydrate properly which is offputting to me. In my latest attempt, I added 10 oz of boiling water and let the meal soak at least 20 minutes. Elevation 3800 ft, ambient temp mid-60's F. My assessment is the meat chunks are too large to rehydrate properly. I note your chicken meals utilize cubed chicken about 3/8 inch on a side. Perhaps reducing the size of the meat chunks in the meal would be an option. I will continue to try them but if nothing changes I will simply not choose them in the future.
