What our Customers Are Saying
This is my go to backcountry meal program. Since I am a type 2 diabetic that controls it with diet and exercise, I have to be careful with my carbs and sugars. Next Mile Meals have been a game changer for me.
My first time trying Next Mile meals and although the flavors are good the chicken meat was like eating boot leather. I was at around 9500 ft elevation so I doubled the recommended rehydrating time and it was still like boot leather. I wouldn’t buy again. I spend about 50 nights a year in the back country eating dehydrated meals.
This is a good meal. I have had many. The only issue I have is getting the chicken to rehydrate.
No matter how long I wait or how hot I make it the chicken never gets there.
I did take the time to pull the meal apart and cut up chicken to smaller pieces. This seemed to do the trick. A pain for sure. But really good after this.
Very good taste, sufficiently filling you up after a full day of backpacking however, I think a bit of a bigger portion would help last into the evening longer. I was hungry a couple hours after and was thankful that I had organic jerky in my pack!
I had a few different meals from next mile and enjoyed them all
Just as I read in the other reviews, the chicken didn't rehydrate all the way, even after 12 minutes, so was a bit crunchy. The flavor though was pretty tasty after a long day hiking with a generous portion of added cheddar cheese to give it a creamier texture. My husband put his in low carb Mission tortillas and I ate it straight out of the bag and really liked the remaining "taco soup". We shared this and the beef tacos in the same format for taco night.
