2,650 miles of Keto… DONE

Keto thru hiker before and after

On Sept 24th, I finished the Pacific Crest Trail and walked into Canada. In the days and weeks that followed, it felt like that first moment after waking up after a night’s sleep, when the tangible details of a dream are still clear and sharp when recalled but within moments begin to fade and become hazy. I did a long and silly thing, and now it's over.

2650 miles (give or take a forest fire)

One hundred and fifty days

Three states

Thirty-six mail drops

Six pairs of shoes

Two backpacks

Ten pairs of socks

Three toenails gone

And what about the keto numbers?

Under 40 grams of carbs per day

10 non-keto meals out of 450

And (only) fifteen pounds lost.

I can say, without any hesitation, that you CAN thru-hike on keto. And you should. It was great. Stay tuned for why.
